How To Apply For The NYC Justice Corps

Is the NYC Justice Corps right for you? As a Corps member, you can:

  • Improve your neighborhood through projects that you will design and complete
  • Learn job skills
  • Be part of a team
  • Receive a stipend
  • Meet local leaders and business people
  • Boost your reading and math skills on your way to a high school equivalency
  • Get help applying to college
  • Build a resume and develop job references
  • Get help finding a job

You will need to:

  • Make a six-month commitment to the program (full-time unless you are in school or working)
  • Set employment and education goals for yourself
  • Meet regularly with program staff

Are you eligible?

To apply for the NYC Justice Corps, you must:

  • Be 18-24 years of age;
  • Have been recently involved in the criminal justice system–for instance, be on parole or probation, released from jail or prison within the last year, or have participated in an alternative-to-incarceration (ATI) program within the last year, or have been arrested within the last year, or be referred by a specialized court; and
  • Reside in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, or Queens.
